Say Cheese in Malayalam “ചീസേ”

Not so long ago my brother and i decided it would be a great idea to join the mad people at The Adventurists for a 3000km self driven Tuk Tuk ride the length of India called the Rickshaw Run. It was as mad as it sounds and the roads in India are crazier than you would ever imagine but we made it to the Kerala at the spicy and sweaty end of India two weeks later.

As a schools photographer I thought this would be an amazing place to give a little back to the local community and with a little help from a local man found St. Francis Church L.P. School, Kochi, which catered for the less fortunate children. Using a nearly white sheet I had borrowed from the room I was staying in and my hand held flash we rigged up a studio hanging the background from the bars on the window and using the international language of slapstick we achieved great results. The children loved the experience of having two crazy foreigners in their school and the photographs I was able to get made me realise how special the job of a schools photographer can be.

On returning to the UK, we sent a copy of the photographs back to the school for the parents to treasure. I am hoping to repeat this amazing experience this year on a trip to South East Asia so look out for the results here in 2015. FRIERN BARNET GUIDE GROUP AND 4 STREET NURSERY

Last weekend was a busy weekend with family portrait sittings in North London for visual images.

On Saturday we had lovely families booked in at our longest standing nursery in Ruislip, 4 Street Nursery is a real favourite of as we have been visiting them for nearly 10 years. It was a fun day with lots of new families and a few familiar faces returning for a refreshed family portrait. We raised a nice little sum, for the nursery and their book corner, which will be added to with commission from the sales.

On Sunday we started the day taking family portraits at clients’ house and then set up a studio for the Friern Barnet Guides families. We had a real mix of sibling photographs, Christmas card shoots, budding fashion models and memorable family shoots.

I always feel so lucky to capture these fun moments. I love the pictures we have from the sittings and I hope the clients will too.The galleries will go live today and I really look forward to hearing what everyone thinks.If you would like to organise a studio day as a treat for a group or organisation, or you would like to raise some money for a worthy cause let us know, we would love to help.

visual Images Photography spent the evening at the Brownies Group in Friern Barnet this month. We had great fun taking photographs of the little ladies, teaching them about the camera and letting them take photographs for themselves.

Each of the Brownies has left the session with great photos of them and their friends, a basic understanding of photography and a great fun evening posing in front of the camera. We structure or photography evenings to engage with the age group; for brownies we start with a photography lesson looking at the different types of camera, what they have in common and how they are used then we ask them what makes a good photograph and help them understand composition. They then put this into practice as we give them the task of taking photographs of things in the room that begin with the letters BROWNIES and then create these letters in the studio to make memorable image.

We also run these sessions for Guide Groups where we concentrate on Photography as a career, the use of photography in Popular Culture and of course time for them to pose in our visual Images studio.

Sunny Owl – 4th Friern Barnet Brownies

Taking advantage of a dry and fairly warm Autumn day this weekend, we took a family to Hampstead for an informal lifestyle shoot in the Heath. Not every family wants a studio background image on their wall and the Limbrick Family wanted a fun and playful shoot where the children could explore the local area and jump in some puddles.

I personally love living so close to this North London landmark and enjoy a walk or run in the Heath so mixing that with an amazing family sitting and the bonus of a piece of cake and a coffee in the Kenwood House Cafe was a perfect weekend activity. I think you’ll agree from the resulting photos everyone enjoyed it as much as i did.
